In an exciting announcement from beloved studio Kyoto Animation, a new Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid anime film titled Samishi-gariya no Ryu (officially A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved) will hit theaters in 2025. The reveal came via Kyoto Animation's 2025 lineup video, narrated by Daisuke Ono (the voice of Fafnir), as well as a teaser trailer and a surprise visual.
The film's tagline, "Bye-bye, Kobayashi," alludes to a sweet-bitter story centered around the lovable dragon Kanna, which promises an emotional adventure. Director Tatsuya Ishihara, who directed the second season, is back to helm the film's production, continuing his collaboration with composer Yuka Yamada and character designer Miku Kadowaki.

Since its breakout in Winter 2017, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid has garnered a devoted following, with a second season set to air in July 2021. The series stars Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi and Yuki Kuwahara as Tohru, supported by a stellar cast including Maria Naganawa as Kanna.
